New Western SA Splits & Specialties
As a result of the recent splits of some of Australia’s western specialties, Bellbird Birding Tours has developed its Western SA Specialties and Splits Tour. We have run this tour succesfully 15 times since 2017. Starting in and returning to Adelaide, this tour will cover much of South Australia’s West Coast and Eyre Peninsula and venture out onto the vast Nullarbor plain close to the Western Australian border. This tour is a fast-paced trip as we’ll cover over 3000 km in 8 days.
Birdwatching in Far Western South Australia
Focusing on the main targets of White-bellied Whipbird, Copperback and Nullarbor Quail-thrush, Naretha Blue Bonnet, Rufous (Sandhill) Grasswren, Western Grasswren and Spotted Scrubwren, we will also be looking for other good species including Blue-breasted Fairywren, Western Yellow Robin, Rufous Treecreeper, Rock Parrot and the local subspecies of Gilberts Whistler and Pink Cockatoo. We may also be very lucky and come across a Scarlet-chested Parrot!
Another not-to be missed aspect of this tour will be a visit to the Head of the Bight, where Southern Right Wales congregrate during May-Sept.
