Birdwatching in Top End Australia

The central-north of Australia is known as the Top End, a tropical area and one of Australia’s outstanding birding locations. Well-known birding areas like Kakadu National Park, the Barkley Tablelands, Victoria River and Gregory National Park can be explored during the dry season of May to October. The varied landscape contains many habitats including coastal areas, rivers, wetlands, rainforest and savannah woodlands. The whole area is sparsely populated. The city of Darwin is the main transport hub.
